Lalbagh is a botanical garden that spans about 240 acres and one of the main tourist attractions in Bangalore, India. It is located in the heart of the city. It has a beautiful Glass House which is the venue of the annual flower shows.
Flower shows at Lalbagh are organized twice a year, in January and August on the occasion of India’s Republic Day and Independence Day. They come up with a theme for every show and replica of items related to that theme will be made using flowers and placed for display. There will be many exhibitions of potted plants, Ikebana, Bonsai and others. Gardening related competitions will be held as well.
I have been to the flower show of August 2012 and couple of times before, many years ago. I love flowers and to see so much of colorful flowers here in different arrangement is awesome. This time Dinosaur, Panda and Ducks were the main attractions in the Glass House.
One thing to note here is, it gets way too crowded. If you do not feel comfortable in the crowd, unfortunately you are better off avoiding this event. You will be in a very crowded line all the way through. To get the glimpse of these flower arrangements properly, you will need to find your space.
Flower show at Lalbagh for January 2013 will begin on January 18 and will go on till January 28. Entree fee is Rs. 40 for adults and Rs. 10 for children. I read that the main attraction in this show will be a 35-foot high floral replica of the Eiffel Tower decorated with Roses and Orchids.
